Objective

Hello and welcome! For my 24th birthday, I wanted to share the joy and power of community service. I am asking my friends and family to commit 24 hours of volunteer service to their community throughout the next year. This page will serve as a place to share volunteer resources, experiences, and stories. Happy Volunteering! - Hue

My 24th

For all those that know me, volunteering has always played a big role in my life. From high school KEY Club days to post-college AmeriCorps days, I have always believed in the simple power of community service. Not only does volunteering positively impact our community, it allows us to DO SOMETHING.

I am not much of a material presents person, so for my 24th birthday, I ask that you give me your time. I want you to volunteer in your community. Find a project that sparks your interest. Do something for someone else. Find happiness in the simple act of lending a hand.

The Plan:
  • I want you to pledge to do 24 hours of volunteer service from now until my next birthday, August 5, 2012 (only 24 out of 8784 hours this upcoming leap year - perfect time to give more since you have an entire extra day this year! only 2 hrs a month!)
  • I ask that you share experiences, stories, and pictures on this blog.
  • We will have more bonding time with friends and family as we volunteer together!
  • Meet new friends :)
  • Inspire others to volunteer
For all my cool friends that already volunteer, this is a great chance to share your experiences and inspire others to get involved.

Who's in? There are plenty of volunteer projects out there and we will work together to find the best opportunity for you! If you find a project you like and are afraid of going alone, let me know and I will do my best to go with you!

If you are interested in joining me on this year-long (and life-long) adventure, please let me know!

Super excited to volunteer with all of you! Let's do this!

"Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. When you volunteer, you vote everyday about the kind of community you want to live in."
